Start here
Reset Minutes is built around one idea: a cleaning routine should fit the time you have, and it should be allowed to stop. Every plan here is a time budget. You set a timer, work until it rings and stop.
Pick the time you have today
| If today you have | Start with |
|---|---|
| About 5 minutes | The minimum day: dishes handled, trash out if it is full, one clear surface |
| 10 minutes | The daily reset, six short steps in a clear, wipe, floor order |
| 20 minutes | The daily reset plus a 10-minute short list for one room |
| 40 minutes | The daily reset plus a 30-minute full list for one room |
The full walk-through, with every step, is in Small Apartment Cleaning Schedule.
Three ideas to keep
- Clear first, wipe second, floor last. It saves doing any step twice.
- Use the minimum day without guilt. You do not need to make up a missed day.
- Drop things on purpose. Moving an item off the list is part of the plan.
Print it
The daily card, the weekly grid and the monthly rotation are free on the printables page. They are US Letter size, readable in black and white, and need no email address.
Stay safe
Use one cleaning product at a time and never mix products. Read the label, ventilate, and keep products in their original containers. The safety section of the schedule links each statement to Poison Control, the CDC or the EPA. See Safe Cleaning for what is published so far.
How the times work
Times on this site are time budgets, not measurements. If we ever publish measured times, the page will say how we measured them and under what conditions. Read more in the Editorial Policy.
